During 2022 through to 2023 I worked as a lead designer for Esmont eyewear, designing one of their flag ship ranges of sunglasses. The collection draw inspiration and style cues from historical aviation: blending timeless heritage with modern sensibilities. Each frame a tribute to the strength and precision of aviation design.

Produced in Sabae, Japan—a region renowned for its traditional craftsmanship in eyewear—the frames were constructed to uphold the highest standards. They not only reflect the qualitative attributes characteristic of the aircraft that inspired their design but also deliver durability and style tailored for today's market. This approach aims to capture the essence of aviation while offering robust, modern frames suited for everyday use.

The challenge as the lead designer was to bring together the utilitarian nature of aviation gear with the elegance expected in high-end eyewear. The result is a collection that feels both aspirational, robust and accessible. Evoking the legacy of the aviation pioneers whilst speaking to the desires and needs of today’s discerning, style-conscious market.
